The Bank of Greene County is proud to announce they are celebrating their 130th Anniversary on January 22, 2019. Initially founded as the Building & Loan Association of Catskill in 1889, the Bank of Greene County has grown with its communities over the years. Today, the Bank offers full-service banking with the latest technology, is publicly traded on the NASDAQ Stock Market under GCBC, and has a Charitable Foundation that has donated over $1 million since 1998.
Bank President Don Gibson stated how proud he was of the success of the Bank, and how important it is to serve the community by not losing sight of the Bank’s roots. “Community and customer service are very important to us at the Bank of Greene County. Even though we opened our 15th branch last year, we’re still the same Bank. Our employees are involved in the communities we serve, and we know our customers – we see them at the supermarket, on local boards, and at community events. We give back to the community because it’s the right thing to do, because we live here too.” Gibson also stated that advances in technology have really helped the Bank of Greene County stay competitive. “We like to think of ourselves as the little Bank that could. We were one of the first banks to offer Apple Pay, which has been expanded to include Android Pay and Samsung Pay. Customers always tell me how much they like our mobile app and online banking. We’re always looking for ways to use technology to make banking more convenient for our customers, without losing that personal touch.”
The Bank would like to thank all its customers and employees for making the last 130 years so successful, and looks forward to serving the community for 130 more. To celebrate, all branch locations will be having a “Customer Appreciation Week” January 22-26. Customers are invited to stop by and enjoy refreshments. The Bank will also be posting pictures and bank history on its Facebook page throughout the year.
Headquartered in Catskill, the Bank of Greene County is the only locally based bank with offices in Greene, Albany, Columbia and Ulster Counties. Proudly serving the Hudson Valley for 130 years.
