Bank Supports Volunteer Firefighters During Fire Awareness Month

The Bank of Greene County values community, and is always happy to support community organizations, especially emergency service providers. During the month of October, the Bank has partnered with the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY) and all Bank of Greene County branch locations are promoting Fire Prevention Month, with additional information on how to get involved with local fire departments and companies.

The Bank is proud to have numerous employees who are volunteer Firefighters and members of Fire Auxiliaries. In addition, the Bank has a full-time employee dedicated to providing lending services to emergency response organizations: Joseph Rothrock, Fire & EMS Specialist.

Joe, a volunteer firefighter with the Palenville Fire Department, stated “All volunteer fire companies face a similar problem. Recruitment and retention are essential to our future existence, and the safety of the communities we serve.  We want to help the local companies as much as we can.  Just having the information available to everyone walking through a branch, and being able to direct potential recruits to any bank branch during the month of October will be very helpful.”

During the month of October, local fire departments will be visiting each branch to speak with Bank customers and potential recruits. For more information, or to get involved with a local fire department, stop by any Bank of Greene County location, contact the Bank at 518-943-2600, or visit
