Bank Announces 2023 Summer Interns

Donald E. Gibson, President and CEO of the Bank of Greene County, is proud to announce the Bank has three summer interns this year, Ava Higgins, Owen Slutzky, and Zarib Alam.

Mr. Gibson stated “We are very excited to welcome Ava, Owen, and Zarib as our 2023 summer interns. Our summer internship program is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the Banking Industry and build relationships. Ava and Zarib joined us last year, and will be interning in different departments this year to round-out their experience. Historically, our internship program has focused on back-office positions, but this year we expanded it to include our Branch network. We look forward to working with Ava, Owen, and Zarib over the summer, and are hoping they will find the experience educational and rewarding.”

Ava Higgins is a senior at the College of Saint Rose pursuing a major in Accounting. She will be interning in Lending, and working in Portfolio Management. Last year, Ava interned in the Bank’s Operations Department. She is a resident of Catskill and graduated 3rd in her class from Catskill High School.

Owen Slutzky is a sophomore at Clarkson University pursuing a dual major in Innovation & Entrepreneurship and Financial Information & Analysis. Owen will be interning in our Cairo branch and getting first-hand experience with daily transaction types, in addition to learning about the Financial Services industry and Branch Management. Owen lives in Kingston, and is a graduate from Kingston High School.

Zarib Alam is a senior at Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations. Zarib will be interning in Credit Administration, and getting first-hand experience with financial statement analysis. Last year, Zarib interned with Loan Servicing, and this rotation will round-out his Lending experience. Zarib lives in Coxsackie and graduated Valedictorian from Coxsackie-Athens High School.

Headquartered in Catskill, New York, the Bank of Greene County is proud to serve the Capital Region and Hudson Valley with full service community-based banking for 135 years.
