Donald E. Gibson, President & CEO of the Bank of Greene County Charitable Foundation, announced a grant from the Bank’s Charitable Foundation to Greene County Region NY13 Blue Star Mothers, a non-profit organization serving members of the military, veterans, and military families in Greene County, and a matching grant from the Armed Forces Financial Network (AFFN). Gibson stated: “The Bank of Greene County Charitable Foundation is proud to support local non-profit organizations in our community. This year, we are giving away $556,000. We are extremely thankful to the AFFN for their matching donation to Blue Star Mothers, and for their support of our community.”
Greene County Region NY13 Blue Star Mothers is a not-for-profit organization consisting of mothers of active duty and veteran service men and women. The mothers provide support to troops serving domestically and in foreign countries through care packages, cards, and letters. They also provide emotional support to local veterans and their families, as well as to each other monthly through group meetings. AFFN is an electronic transfer network which provides U.S. military personnel with access to their funds through ATM and point-of-sale terminals at or near U.S. military bases worldwide. AFFN’s mission is to increase the versatility of participating financial institutions to better serve the U.S. military.
