Bank Announces Appointment of Two New Advisory Board Members

Catskill, NY – Bank President Donald Gibson, and Chairman of the Board Jay Cahalan, are pleased to announce the appointment of two distinguished professionals to the Bank of Greene County Advisory Board: Renee Walrath and Marie Zimmerman. These appointments mark a significant step in the Bank of Greene County’s strategic plan to broaden its industry expertise and strengthen its commitment to customer service and innovation.

Renee brings over 20 years of experience in executive search, recruiting, and staffing services, and Marie brings over 20 years of experience in accounting and audit expertise.”

Jay Cahalan added “our Advisory Board is comprised of industry and community leaders, who provide the Board of Directors and the leadership team with strategic guidance and industry insights. Renee and Marie bring years of experience and unique perspectives, and we are excited to have them join our team in an advisory role.”

Renee Walrath is the President, CEO, and Executive Recruiter for Walrath Recruiting, where she’s been a trailblazer in executive search, recruiting, and staffing services for over 20 years. Renee is a graduate of Siena College, and holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She was named to the Albany Business Review’s Power 50 list in 2022, and was named to their Power 50 list of the most influential women in the Capital Region in 2024. Walrath Recruiting was also named the number 1 Executive Search Firm by the Albany Business Review in 2020 and 2021. Renee enjoys traveling, skiing, and spending time with her family. She is also a member of the School of Business Advisory Council at Siena.

Renee stated: “I am truly honored to serve on the Bank of Greene County Advisory Board. I deeply appreciate the confidence placed in me and look forward to contributing my experience and perspective to help further the organization’s mission and strategic goals. I’m excited to collaborate with such a talented group of individuals and to support the continued growth and success of this organization.”

Marie Zimmerman is an accomplished audit professional with more than 20 years of governmental accounting and Federal Single Audit experience. Marie leads KPMG’s Albany office, and specializes in audit services for state and local governments, higher education, and non-profit organizations. She attended LeMoyne College on a four-year scholarship to play on their Division 1 tennis team, and was named an NCAA Women’s tennis Northeast 10 Silver Scholar. Marie earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from LeMoyne, and received the Institute of Management Accountants’ Valedictorian Award. She was included in the Albany Business Review’s 40 Under 40 class of 2017, and was named a City and State 40 Under 40 Rising Star in 2016. In 2024, Marie was named to the Albany Business Review’s Power 50. She is an active board member of the Albany Chef’s Food and Wine Festival and Capital Region Chamber, as well as the Albany Academy Athletic Counsel and Fort Orange Club Membership Committee. Marie lives in Wyanantskill with her family.

Marie stated “I am honored that Don Gibson and the Board have invited me to join the Bank’s Advisory Board. This opportunity allows me to leverage my 24 years of experience in accounting and auditing to contribute to the bank’s strategic growth and innovation. I am eager to enhance its service offerings and strengthen its commitment to the community and customers. I look forward to working alongside Renee and the rest of the Board, and I hope to help the Bank of Greene County continue its success in the Capital Region.”
